It can take a while for the claim to be assessed, if you do it in good time that reduces the chance of your payments stopping before the new claim kicks in. Sign and date the form and submit it - thats a record of how your health is now.  If things change you can deal with that when it arises.

    EDITED to remove incorrect statement.

Just to clarify, payments will not stop (or change) your claim continues until a new decision is made whenever that may be.

Because that's how the system works.

DWP PIP Reviews have been taking over a year to complete... with awards being extended while that review happens.  No award will stop unless someone fails to complete and return the forms in time (and one can ask for an extension to the return date in the review letter if needed).

They consider the final year of an award as a review year (they typically add a year on to their 'prognosis' for award length). Forms for review historically would have come out with around 12 months of award left but in more recent times it has been more like 8 or 9 months due to backlogs in system.

Complete the review form as fully as possible (treat it like a new claim is advised) giving any new evidence that is supportive and return by date required. If the form is insufficient in spaces you can attach additional sheets (marking name, Nino, date, page numbers, questions being answered) and you might find electronically dealing with this is helpful including for record saving for future reviews.

Any new decision replaces existing one. If they can't take review decision before award runs out they'll extend award probably by a year with around a month left. Report any relevant health/disability changes as required should they arise.
