Do I still need to report a transaction that failed to clear pending?

Yesterday an Amazon purchase that definitely wasn't me showed up as pending. This morning all pending transactions have processed and it is gone. The card is frozen for now but is it worth reporting and replacing the card or are there ways this can happen by mistake?

I would definitely ring the bank, report fraud and request a new card

I had something similar happen a few weeks ago - attempted fraud on my debit card, but it was stopped because I had frozen it in my app. Only reason I knew was because I had notifications saying to unfreeze my card and try again. Reported it to the fraud team at my bank and they reissued my card. Better to nip these things in the bud now rather than having to fight for a refund if a payment actually goes through.

I called and they said because it wasn't authorised by the retailer it didn't even show on their system but I got it cancelled and replaced anyway.

Good. My bank recently spotted unusual transactions on my card which they rejected. They sent out a new card before i even knew there was a problem

So where did you see the pending transaction?

In the app. I got a notification saying I just spent £18 which I didn't, and it was on in the list of pending transactions.

So then who you spoke to at bank was talking out of their backside. As any authorisation even if declined by retailer will show on their system.
Clearly if you received it in banking app, it had reached bank...
