Lidl Parkside cordless hedge trimmer.Question.

Hi folks,
I have bought a Parkside cordless hedge trimmer last Sept 24 (just the short one, not extended) I have a Stihl petrol trimmer but find the cordless one a lot lighter and it cuts ok for what I want, so will stick with cordless.
However I have something I would like your opinion on please, Occasionally the trimmer stalls due to a branch that is too thick for the blades, I remover the battery for safety and then either pull the branch out, or if its very short stuck between the two blades I use a screwdriver to prise it out for safety.
All well and good, but something the cutting bar(blades) refuse to start again when I presser the start buttons, I can hear the click of something happening as regards the battery kicking in, but cutting blades don't move.
I have found that if I use a screwdriver to push one of the blades either backwards or forwards relative to the other then this seems to clear whatever is blocking the blades to work and I am good for another while.
I spent just over an hour cutting this evening and the above happened twice, so what do you think a fault maybe due to blades misaligned or something similar.
I have put a little 3 in one oil on blades last time I cut, they advice to do this.
I have contacted LIdl service in the past, usually after a lot of questions they will come up with a solution, was thinking maybe since its not a year since I bought it, maybe they might do a swap in store if a replacement was available. It does have a three year warranty but a swap in store would be much handier if they would do it

I've the 20V one of those, not sure whether the same one. Sounds as though it may be a lubrication issue, I tend to oil at the start and during a long hedge cut as well as before putting it away. Also make sure the battery is fully charged. Generally I find it starts getting stuck on things that it wouldn't normally when the battery needs a charge.1

Thanks, probably the same one, I do have one of the higher power batteries that cost £30 so lasts long on that one, seems its only when it stalls due to too thick a branch when I have the issue.0

Interesting, AQ.
Could be a 'fault', with the blade mechanism becoming distorted or dislodged by the shock of being suddenly stopped, or it could possibly be a safety feature in case that's your finger?
For the latter, it would be mentioned in the instructions. Do you have this?
Exact model number?1 -
Maybe if you know you will be cutting through thicker branches, go back to the more heavy duty petrol trimmer, and just use the cordless for light trimming ?2

Thanks, here is the model,
PARKSIDE PHSA 20-Li Cordless Hedge Trimmer with Laser-Cut Blade, Integrated Suspension (without Battery/Charger) Compatible with All X20V Team and Performance Devices and Batteries : Amazon.co.uk: Garden
I do love the weight of it, even with the petrol one it could get stuck with branches, Does say in the troubleshooting part of the manual if it behaves like this it could be a fault with the start switch, but only really happens with me after getting caught in a branch, sometimes after getting caught and I remove the branch, it works fine, but other times when I remove the branch, blades won't move again (though I hear the click of the start mechanism? as stated moving one of the blades either backwards or forwards relative to the other seems to get it working again. Its not an expensive model, only £25 without battery, and does have a three year guarantee, so probably with follow up in getting it exchanged.

Can't see full instructions, but it does say in that ad it has 'stop protection', which I assume is a way of shutting off the power if it 'stalls'.
This is usually via a thermal switch, which trips when the motor current goes above a certain point, and it'll soar if the motor cannot turn.
So, possibly, it just hasn't cooled down and reset yet, but has done so by the time you've fiddled with the blade, thinking you are sorting it!
Tbh, I cannot see it being a design that you need to manually move the blades to reset it, as they wouldn't encourage this sort of dangerous fiddling.
And I also cannot see it being a dislodged mechanical connection, since it's otherwise running well; I'd expect a bit of 'noise' if there was such a dodgy part.
Next time it happens and it won't restart, just put it down and have a cuppa - see if that fixes it
