previous owner has accidently put their name and details as the new owner in section 2

My boyfriends dad sold him a car but accidently put his own details in section 2 on the V5C and i cannot seem to get anywhere online.

Phone DVLA, if the new keeper's details are same as existing keeper they will look at it and probably be okay with cancelling the change of keeper. If you don't phone, I imagine its all automated and it would go through, adding another RK (and number of previous owners etc) to the car, devaluing it.

If that did happen, at least it would come back to him and he could then fill it in again, correctly, and you'd get your V5 eventually.

To be clear, has the form be sent on with incorrect details or do you still have the form?

If you haven't sent off the paperwork you should be able to initiate a change of keeper online. Where you say "i cannot seem to get anywhere online", does that mean you can't use the online form for some reason or do you mean you are trying to get help online after filing incorrect paperwork?
