Buying a New Build - Will Garage Block Sunlight in Garden?

Hi I am looking to buy a new build, plot 200 below. We are concerned the garden may have shadows etc created based on the fact it has the walls of the neighbouring properties garages surrounding it.

Looking for this communities views please on if this is an issue ie how likely is it we will have the sunlight blocked on our garden during the day?

The direction of the garden is SW, more towards the west facing side. Having sunlight in the garden is quite a priority for us and a reason for our move as currently we have an east facing garden which loses sunlight around mid afternoon.

Any thoughts/recommendations/views would really be appreciated to help put our mind at ease.

Many thanks in advance.

We have a southwest facing garden that has little shade apart from a large pear tree, so I'd be happy to have a garden in part sun, part shade.

The garages will be single height, so especially in summer when the sun is high, I doubt they'll fully shade the garden. And as previous poster said, having lived with a south facing garden in our last house with very little shade, I think a garden with a mix of sun and shade is a positive thing. And this from someone who loves a bright sunny house.

The gardens a lot wider than the garages are tall, so you'll presumably have shade right beside the walls but always some sun in the garden.

Our garden faces North West, but I am still glad of some shade during a hot afternoon.

Can you confirm whether north is upwards on the map or it is aligned to suit the shape of the development?

I'm also intrigued by the animals shown by some of the plots - hope those aren't rats!

The dashed pink line in the bottom-left corner (representing a bridleway) is roughly North-South, with North to the left side.

The animals are supposed to indicate bat boxes and wildlife corridors.  I'd guess there will be a planning condition/covenant requiring wildlife access points through the fences to be retained.

    Edit: Roughly this -

    It's all a bit blue!

You're bound to get some shading and of course in Autumn/Winter when the sun does come out, it will be quite low in the sky.

There are apps that can help to visualise the direction of the sun and any shadows during the day by overlaying lines on a given location. Try with your current property first to see if it makes sense.

Some try to account for buildings and trees, which sounds exactly what you want, but they probably won't have the new development in their satellite imagery yet.

I hope they are wiring them for power and EV charging, otherwise they are going to need remedial work in the near future. At least it looks like it won't disrupt you too much.

My garage shades my garden due to it having a pitched roof. If your garages are flat roofed it shouldn't be a problem.

But any shade could be used as storage areas such as a shed
