Hi everyone,
Sorry, I didn't get chance to post from Wales but we're home now. L and I left at the children's bedtime and got home at 1.20 this morning. B is in Scotland at a friend's wedding.
Poor Steve had to hotfoot it to Yorkshire after trouble at the house there. It had been rented by an organisation for a child in care (deceitfully because to all intents it was a normal private booking). The boy in question destroyed the TV, soundbar and hefty TV cabinet. Also broke some ornaments in another locked cabinet. To add to it they didn't tell us leaving our cleaner to find it. When Steve arrived he found that all the sharp knives had disappeared. They were eventually returned and we were told what had happened but to say we are shocked by the organisation's behaviour is an understatement.
Hopefully we'll be fully reimbursed.
Sorry for the long post, have a good day.13 -

Good morning all, thanks @Scarlet for the start and hello to a new month and summer. It's sunny here with blue sky, high fluffy clouds and a bit of breeze, cooler than yesterday but still mild and Mr Weatherman says showers are "possible" anytime from late morning until late afternoon.
I've done all the usual daily tasks - bed made, rubbish out etc - and have no end of things I could do for the rest of the day but, as to what I will do, I haven't yet decided. I might aim for a combination of "needs doing" and "would like to do". The one decision I have made is what's for tea! It's going to be liver, bacon & onion casserole with baby potatoes, broccoli and carrots, strawberries for afters. The casserole is one of the things I took out of the freezer so I could get something else in.
@TA - Like you, my music collection is varied - 50s and 60s stuff (although Elvis and Cliff never really floated my boat), big band and crooners, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, Super Tramp, Meatloaf, Robbie Williams, rock opera and "real" opera, to mention a few. I like Beautiful South too but haven't got anything of theirs - maybe I can rectify that next time I'm having a chazzer browse!
@remmie - I hope your DD can get to the bottom of what's troubling her DD.
@camelot - I'm normally Mrs Organised so I'm annoyed at myself for not having a spare filter. Never mind, replacements are on their way.
@Ruby - I hope DM's eye appointment went well, you may well be back home by now.
@themsthebreaks - Weed spraying is on my list too but will have to wait until the next dry spell comes along.
@dp1 - Fingers crossed you won't have any medical emergencies with LO.
@snoozer - That's a dreadful thing to happen. I wouldn't be taking any more bookings from that organisation.
Hugs for the Poodles, enjoy your day and take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.14 -
Yorkslass, we were led to believe it was an ordinary family booking not a care organisation. We might have taken the booking anyway but the deceit is the worst of it.10

The rain came earlier, so I'm glad I didn't spray the weeds, as that would have been a waste.
I repotted the tomato plants into bigger pots, and tidied some of the garden. We have an open area of land behind us, where local lads play football. It's good to see them outdoors, but they play as if they are on a football field, and I found one of the solar lanterns smashed, this morning. They can be very annoying.
I have just put some vegan savoury scones into the oven. I'm trying out a new recipe, and this one has wholegrain mustard as one of the ingredients. Hopefully, they will be nice.
I sorted out one of the storage cupboards where everything that doesn't have a place, gets stored, and found fifteen bags of dried pasta. Added to all the other bags in the house, we won't be buying any more for a long time.
I'm hoping to stick to a sort out of at least one thing a day, for the next thirty days. The house is so cluttered.
For now, though, it's time for a nice, relaxing afternoon.9 -
I'm a bit late, didnt post yesterday, been a hectic weekend so far. Our new corner sofa was delivered just as we got back from DGS football.Ds let them in so it was already assembled, they were just taking the packaging. So we did some rearranging, both in the 'front ' room which we mainly use in the evening watching tv, and the 'back 'room which is a long through room with the kitchen and the dining table in 1 half. The chesterfield we moved into the front has been returned there, rugs swapped around, and the chair from the old suite put in one corner as visitors tend to automatically end up there so it's a bit extra seating. Feels tidier than it has for weeks!DGS was playing again this morning, filling in again for another team. My DN lives quite close by so I messaged her and she brought her youngest to watch for a bit, but the weather turned awful so they scooted off to get DGN haircut. We were freezing and wet by the time the whistle went!Got home to dry out and eat, shortly going to the retail park to pick up a Tshirt DH ordered.@remmie, it's a worry isn't it, especially with the school being boarding, hope it's sorted. My DGD is continuing to have problems at her school and isn't looking forward to going back tomorrowI think I'm going to make a chicken satay for tea later. Take care all:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)10
