I've seen my GP and am waiting for an ultrasound scan.
Is it best to tell the insurer now or when I receive a diagnosis? My feeling is it makes more sense to await diagnosis.

When you took the policy out the insured will have ahead about conditions that you had consulted a doctor about in the last X years; this will have included conditions for which you didn't have an actual diagnosis yet but which were obviously bothering you enough to go to the doctor.
The policy terms will set out what you need to do in terms of ongoing disclosure however my guess would be that you'd have to the then about new treatments or investigations even if you didn't have a diagnosis as such yet.1 -
Thank you. I've since checked the policy and cover will not be offered where medical issues are undiagnosed. However, the policy was taken out before my health issue, so I couldn't disclose it.
Hopefully all will be clearer before my trip in October.0 -
But worst case scenario
you get bad news later in the year and need to cancel. They may not cover because you delaying informing them has cost more
Realistically you should inform them sooner rather than later1 -
Thank you. Will phone them on Monday.0
