By entering this Promotion, entrants accept and agree to be bound by these Official Rules. Any violation of the Official Rules may, at Sponsor’s discretion, result in disqualification. All decisions of the judges regarding this Promotion are final and binding in all respects. 

1. GENERAL. These terms and conditions (which we will refer to as the “Specific Terms”) will govern the featuring Gilpin Hotel & Lake House X Condé Nast Traveller Competition (the “Promotion” or “Competition”). These Specific Terms and the General Terms (available here: General Terms and Conditions - The Condé Nast Publications Ltd) shall govern the Promotion and in the event of any contradiction between the General Terms, the Specific Terms shall prevail. Capitalised words and expressions used but not defined herein these Specific Terms shall have the meaning given to them in the General Terms. 

2. SPONSOR. The Condé Nast Publications Limited (“Condé Nast”) is a company registered in England and Wales with company number 00226900 and with registered office at 1-11 John Adam Street, London WC2N 6HT . Condé Nast is responsible for the operation of the Giveaway (the “Sponsor” or “Promoter”). 

3. PROMOTION PERIOD. Promotion begins 12:00 PM GMT on 30 May 2025 and closes on 24 July 2025 at 11:59 PM GMT, by which all entries must be received (“Promotion Period”). 

4. ELIGIBILITY. This Promotion is only open to legal residents of the United Kingdom who 

are at least 18 years old.

5. HOW TO ENTER. Visit https://www.cntraveller.com/article/gilpin-competition during the Promotion Period and complete the entry form answering correctly the question: “Which river flows through the chocolate-box village of Kendal, in the Lake District?”. No purchase or payment of any kind is necessary to enter or for a chance to win this Promotion. A purchase will not improve chances of winning. Internet access is required. Limit: no more than one entry per person and one entry per e-mail address during the Promotion Period.

6. WINNER SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION. All qualifying entrants will be placed in a free prize draw. Selection of the winner will be conducted within twenty-eight (28) days from the Closing Date by random drawing from all eligible entries (the “Drawing Date”). Any potential winner will be notified by email and/or telephone. If a potential winner: (i) cannot be contacted; (ii) does not respond within seventy-two (72) hours from the date the Sponsor first tries to notify him/her; (iii) refuses the prize; and/or (iv) the prize or prize notification is returned as undeliverable, such potential winner forfeits all rights to win the Promotion or receive the prize, and an alternate potential winner may be selected. Upon contacting a potential winner and determining that they have met all eligibility requirements of the Promotion, such individual will be declared a “winner” of the Promotion. 

7. PRIZE DESCRIPTION. There will be one (1) winner. The winner will receive one (1) prize,  which will consist of: 
- Two nights in a Spa Suite at Gilpin Hotel for two
- One tasting menu supper for two at Source at Gilpin Hotel, worth approximately £200 per person include wine flights
- One supper for two at Gilpin Spice (excluding alcohol) worth approximately £100 per person
- One spa treatment per person to the maximum value of £200 each

8. PRIZE REDEMPTION CONDITIONS. The prize must be taken within twelve (12) months of the winner being notified. Redemption is subject to availability and excludes the following; UK school holidays (23 July - 29 August 2025, 25-31 October 2025, 14-22 February 2026, 2-20 April 2026, 23-31 May 2026), UK bank holidays, and the festive season (20 December 2025 – 2 January 2026). Condé Nast is not responsible for travel costs. All additional costs, services, or extras not explicitly included in the prize description will be charged to the winner’s account and must be settled in full upon departure, unless otherwise stipulated. Third-party suppliers of prizes may stipulate their own terms, conditions or restrictions and all prizewinners agree to be bound by these. Condé Nast shall have no liability in relation to any prize provided by a third-party provider.
