Vinted Newbie

Hi all, I have been selling odd bits on eBay for many years as a private seller without many issues. I havenow just opened a Vinted account, to sell some clothes. I'm a bit confused as with eBay I could weigh my items to calculate postage. Does Vinted have a preferred courier, or do you go off their parcel size guess work (small, medium, large) and suck up any losses?
Also, any hints for a beginner gratefully received.
Tia

A quick run through the basics, but please feel free to ask more questions as I'm bound to forget something.

Vinted use a simple delivery system for postage , ebay copied their idea and Vinted give suggested weights and sizes depending on category. Small/medium/large and most couriers are flexible except for RM  - personally I opt out of using RM )and Relay which I've never heard of) as there are issues about the tracking being slow.

To opt out of couriers you can't use go into your settings>postage then disable any you want. All offer QR codes apart from Inpost to home which is printed label only. Vinted though do say they reserve the right to use a different courier if buyer has no other options.

When someone buys your item Vinted send a label which buyer pays for and the money for your item goes into your pending balance. Sellers have up to 5 working days to post, but most buyers expect items to be sent more quickly than that.

Wrap and send using pre paid label. When it arrives buyer has 48 hours to confirm they are happy, once they confirm money transfers into your available balance after a day or 2.

Watch for scams, newbies are constantly targeted, if you don't get a proper pre paid label then it's a scam.

Offers are a thing, so add a little onto your items so you can consider offers. if someone wants more than one item then tell them to make a Vinted bundle, if they buy separately then you must send separately, you cannot combine orders.

As soon as your first money is available draw it out, even if its just £1 - it tests you have set your bank account up correctly , better to find something wrong with 31 involved than with a big balance. After that never leave a balance in there, get it out ASAP.

As with all online sites you will at some point be asked for ID and National insurance number.

Personally I am now selling as much, if not more on Vinted than on ebay , the prices are lower and offers are a big thing, but ti works well for me.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed reply. I shall watch for scammers. I have 3 watchers on my first item so fingers crossed....

Just remember, only use the label that is attached to your Vinted sale, don't follow any outside links. Also I follow some advice I was given a while ago and I photograph my package once I have wrapped and labelled it - and add that to my message thread when I let the buyer know when I'm posting.
