Tesco bank hard credit check

Hi,
I have just been through the MSE CC eligibility calculator as after a balance transfer card. The results provided me 100% eligible on many cards so decided on Tesco, after going through the link and completing the application the credit limited suggested was £250, which based on my info is ridiculous, so obviously didn’t go through with the application.
i have just called Tesco to understand the low credit limited suggested and was told this has been a known issue with applications through ‘comparison’ sites, and they have had many calls regarding it.
there was nothing they could do to increase so I have obviously got them to confirm my application has been successfully withdrawn.
I am in the position now where a hard credit check has been applied, and i need to secure a credit card with a decent credit limited to be able to transfer a balance. Would it be advisable to apply for another credit card today or if not when would be a good time to wait so the hard credit check would not impact.
any help would be appreciated.
thanks
si

I would apply for another card straight away...unless you'd rather wait in  excess of 6 months.

So this suggestion is based on the Tesco bank credit check not showing on my credit score?

Also would the bank I current have my current account in do a hard credit check if I were to apply for a credit card through them?

LBG (Lloyds, Halifax, Bank of Scotland, MBNA) don't tend to if you have an existing account with that brand (YMMV). They are an outlier in this regard though.

Is there a reason you absolutely do not want another hard check? They only last on your record a year.

I might have taken the card and then phoned Tesco to discuss the limit.
If they knew there was a problem they might have increased the limit - imo better than a wasted search on file
