Morning all, thanks Gers- shame about the lack of nice views on your long drive. Must be about 30 + years ago since we used to go and stay just outside Campbeltown with DH diving club, happy days.Have a great weekend @Wicked_Lady & hope the wedding goes well.We had a nice meal in Manchester, the trains there and back were rammed though so no seats. DH wanted to go and buy something from a particular shop so it was a bit of a treck from the station and my feet had blisters by the end of the afternoon.We met the friends at a posh cocktail bar first but I refused to have a mocktail at £ 14.95! Nice to see them though, it'd been a while.Today we are picking up the DGC, doing a bit of shopping with them and then going for something to eat so not much tea needed.Got a text saying our new long awaited sofa is being delivered in the morning so will leave DS1 to sort that as we'll be at DGS football, although it's an early match so we could well be back. Then we'll need to start penny pinching after the holiday and new sofa etc.@mehefin , our clematis was lovely before we went away, it's on the fence between us and next door but it's just damp petals on the ground now!Take care all.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Good morning all, thanks for the start @Gers. Welcome to a soggy Yorkshire. Rain and yet more rain! Need I say more?
Yesterday passed well enough and I did a few bitty jobs around the house as well as taking in a parcel for my neighbour. I slept well last night and feel a lot more enthusiastic this morning, although I wasn't impressed by an early morning call, probably from one of those annoying scammers flogging insulation or whatever. Whoever it was hung up as soon as I answered. It being Friday, it's admin day after which I'll pop out for a few bits and pieces that I couldn't get on my delivery. Tea tonight is a cod fishcake with some fried leftover potato slices.
@AlwaysAllie - Enjoy your short break in Gloucestershire.
@mehefin - Lovely colour clematis.
Best wishes for the wedding, @Wicked_Lady.
@TA - I'm so sorry to hear you're still having problems with your eye and hope you don't have to wait too long for the other one doing.
@-taff - I'm glad you qualified "the end is in sight" comment as meaning decorating!Yes, it's nearly done - hard work but well worth the effort.
Right, admin calls so I'll get off. Enjoy the day, take care and be kind. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
Morning allBack from shopping and collecting my photos which are now all safe on a memory stick. Just hope I don't lose the memory stick!Apparently the skip is being collected today. I'll believe it when I see it sailing down the road on a lorry. Update it's just being collected whoop whoop!Re gardens. I've lost 5 or more of my sunflowers that I grew from seeds and a few other things are suffering because of the wind gusts which are still expecting to blow for the rest of next week. So annoyingHope the sun shines and the wedding goes well @Wicked_LadyI'm also invested into Rob too. Let's hope they come to the right decision for his future.Take care and have a good day all x12

Good morning 😊
It has been a productive day, so far. I had some potatoes from an open bag which needed using up, so I made some chilli salt wedges. They can be heated up later for anyone who wants them. From the new bag, I have prepared everything for a broccoli and potato bake. That just needs to go into the oven for later. I’ve also marinaded some baby corn in a spice rub. They are really nice, cooked in the air fryer.I went to the market yesterday to stock up on vegetables. Sadly, some of the banana peppers I bought, were looking a bit sorry for themselves this morning - a bit overripe - but at £1 for 10, I suppose that’s to be expected. Anyway, I chopped those up, and will use them in dishes over the next few days.
Later, the meat eaters will have salt and pepper chicken with the broccoli potato bake, but I will just have a larger portion of that.
I paid off the monthly credit card this morning. I try to clear the balance each month, to avoid paying interest. On the other card, there’s a remaining transfer balance amount at 0% and that will be cleared next month, so we will have some leeway if redundancy happens. Still none the wiser on that score, but an email was sent saying there was going to be a meeting at some point in the next month. I hate the not knowing. I feel, even if it did happen, at least if we knew, it would be easier to prepare for.
My main task today, which I had been putting off, was to clean the bannisters and skirting on the stairs, and sort through the bookcase on the landing. As well as being full of books, it has also turned into the overflow for toiletries that won’t fit on the shelves in the bathroom. A boring job, but it’s out the way now.
Hope you all have a good day 😊9
