No, you need your car properly diagnosing.

This. Take the car to a garage that understands how modern cars work…

Could have been worse - you could have taken it to Halfords... https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6493547/halfords-have-written-off-my-pride-and-joy/

The M270/M274 1.6 and 2.0 litre engines are direct injection and do have particulate filters (GPF or PPF or FAP).
I think they are MB engines.

Later models with the M282 1.3 litre engines were Renault/Nissan alliance engines.

This video is exactly the same problem as yours.
A petrol engine MB with the same P246300 code (see the laptop screen at 1.07)

Contrary to what I wrote earlier, the GPF/PPF/FAP filters on these earlier cars appear to be active filters, so it's possible to force a regeneration.
(I'm pretty sure the GPF/PPF/FAP on the later Renault engine is passive. I have this engine in my car and I've sure I read it's a passive system).

The technician does a good job of explaining what he thinks has happened.
The car's precat O2 sensor (bank 1 sensor 1) looks like it's old and lazy (even though his diagnostic tool has reversed the readings on the screen).
This has caused the engine to run richer which produces more soot, which has caused the error code.

The video shows that with the right diagnostic tools and the right knowledge, you can and should look beyond the actual fault and drill down into the cause.

I suggest you find someone similar to sort your problem out.
