Latest I Pad query

We were on fAcetime to our friends this evening.
Our and their I Pads were static on a table.
Their picture on our screen was perfectly still, but our picture seemed to pan from one of us to the other like the cameraman was a bit bored!
Presumably this is yet another "upgrade" - any ideas how to turn this off please?

Thanks

Settings / control centre .... but then where?
No mention of centre stage on there that I can see.

This isn't a new thing it was introduced a few years ago so that the speaker is centre stage.

Most odd - we only use fAcetime a few times a year but it's never happened before! Like much tech nowadays, too complicated for it's own good! (in my opinion!)

Its not just an apple thing either, these days with Teams if you have a large room with just a few people in it then rather than showing the whole room Teams will slice it up so you just get a mosaic of the people. The one difference is that its the receivers end that does this so they can turn it off if they want to see the full room whereas with Centre Stage it's the sender that is in control of it.

The Teams one works ok other than sometimes it misses people or, in one of our offices that has the TV directly opposite a window it mistakes the reflection on the window as people in the room and then you get an infinite loop going on
