EDF and smart meters- catalogue of faults

I’ve been with EDF for years and the last few days have made me wonder why.
so…we have smart meters for gas and electric, previous owners had them so we took them over.
Gas meter doesn’t work anymore, hasn’t for about a year, only discovered this as we got sent an online bill with only electricity on and the gas bill never came.
Phoned EDF, first guy was clueless and what he didn’t know, he lied about. There was loads including they can’t book engineers out for June appointments till June.
Phoned back as something seemed off, this guy knew stuff and got me an appointment for early July, apparently gas meter has been off for a year and no fault on me, been paying my direct debit.
turns out the first guy can’t be traced as not UK based.
my Online account is showing very little info, they investigate and end up breaking my online account, they tell I.T and it now works. Still limited info and the info they send doesn’t show 12 months before the meter packed in.
then I get an email saying my Direct Debit is being reduced by 80%. The new figure is a fraction of my electric useage and doesn’t take into account my use of gas in winter.
I phone in again and ask for the original complaint to be reviewed with this new info by someone else, get told it will be sent and the guy informed. Direct debit will be amended.
Amount on myaccount is the smaller amount still, no review is taking place and guy emailed me asking why I wanted it reviewing.
how should I proceed with this?

I regret going for a Smart meter as I did this for the IHD. The IHD did not work for a couple of months and on the 3rd visit they managed to get the eltric reading showing on the IHD. The gas and electric meters are next to each other inside the house, almost next to the wifi setup.
After months of complaints, the supplier said "IHD's do not wotk in every property." v I thought, !!!!!!, why did you not tell me that before as the IHD was the main reason I got a smart meter.
To add insult to injury - I was not getting charged for the gas for months - I rang them when i noted this and was assured i was. I rang them again and they agreed to land me with a big bill. I said it was a lot of money in one go and they told me, "don't worry, you can pay it in instalments." I thought !!!!!!, I don't want to be in debt.
I made offical complaints but did not get far other than a small "goodwill payment" just about enough for a fish n chips x 2.The time I spent on the phone/emails, the frustration, the stress, and having to talk to clueless people did my head in. I regret going for these meters.
As I'm a very understanding and reasonable person, I guess the majority of new smart meters and IHD go ahead well but when it goes wrong, boy does it go wrong and the lack of care in my experience anyway did my head in for months and the awful stress.0 -

I wasn't that bothered though as I wanted a better quality 3rd party version and that worked fine.To add insult to injury - I was not getting charged for the gas for months - I rang them when i noted this and was assured i was. Indeed, you may have been financially better off from it if you earned interest on the amount you didn't pay earlier. As I'm a very understanding and reasonable person, I guess the majority of new smart meters and IHD go ahead well but when it goes wrong, boy does it go wrong and the lack of care in my experience anyway did my head in for months and the awful stress.Sounds a bit over the top. The smart meter lost connectivity and acted like a conventional meter. And you say you regret going smart meter despite it acting like a conventional meter, which is what you would have been in previously.
