Separated 10 years and have filed for divorce. Advice needed regarding claims on a New property

Options
So I have been separated 10 years and me and my new partner are looking to buy a house together. I have filed for a divorce. It’s never been done before as ex wouldn’t sign the papersband was being awkward all those years ago. He is now with someone else.  There are no assets or children involved in divorce. I’m wondering as the divorce can take a while, where do i stand in regards to this and Ex Husband if I go down on the mortgage and buy somewhere. Is there something a solicitor can draw up in terms of the Ex trying to make a claim. If we brought a house now. Or do I have to wait till the divorce is through.

When you say that there are no assets involved, do you mean that neither of you has any assets, any pension savings, no cars, nothing at all?

You make things very complicated, complicated enough that no one sensible would do it.

You wait until the divorce, including the financial order is finalised.

You need a financial remedy consent order. It's a separate process to the main divorce proceedings. You can do it via consent if ex agrees but until that order is in place, financial claims remain on the table (unless you remarry, then your claims would be limited to pensions only, but not ex)
