When to Send Original Will and Renunciation of Executor Form?

Help, please, with the order in which I need to submit the relevant forms.

I'm currently dealing with the second death of a married couple, including the transfer of some unused NRB.

I've completed IHT400, calculated the IHT payable, and the IHT423 will be posted to the bank tomorrow.

IHT400 asks for only a copy of the Will, but I'm (almost) sure I sent the original Will with the application for Probate last time.

Also, should I include the other executor's renunciation with the IHT400?

The couple will have had separate wills (or not) - the one you sent last time will have presumably been for the first to die, there should be another for the second, If not you would need to apply for a Grant of Administration and follow the intestacy rules.

I would imagine that the Probate Office would return a will if it did not relate to thevdeceased person for whom probate was been applied.

It's all separate, apart from the transfer of part of the wife's unused NRB.  Their property was held as Tenants in Common and they had separate Wills.

My understanding (I'm only part way through the process so far) is that a copy of the will is sent with IHT400 and then the original is sent once the probate application has been made (or with the application if applying by post).

Just to confirm, any time after IHT423 has been sent to the bank, you can post the IHT400 schedules, plus a copy of the Will and anything else on the checklist, to the address on p.17 of the latest edition of IHT400. The IHT reference number allows multiple payments to be credited to your account.

Renunciation of executors is dealt with by the Probate Registry, so you don't send PA15 to HMRC. Equally, if you're the sole administrator, you don't include any names beside your own in the declaration on p.14

Then you wait a month or so, chasing up HMRC if necessary, for the code allowing you to make the probate application. HMCTS will prompt you to send them the original Will since it's their job to check its validity.
