We have an alarm at home but it does not connect to the outside world if/when it goes off. I therefore wondered if anyone knows of a small device that I could put near the alarm's klaxon which would (perhaps in conjunction with IFTTT?) notify me via a phone app when it goes off. That would be really useful.
Many thanks.

Nothing I can see, the "Ring Alarm Smoke & CO Listener" isn't sold in the UK due to regulation differences. Trying to bodge something together with Zigbee, WiFi and apps doesn't look too clever for a service which needs to be reliable.
Does your alarm panel have a signal wire output to show the alarm has ben triggered? Then you could use a GSM autodialler for an SMS message - GSM 4G AUTO DIALLER : Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools1 -

I wondered if anything designed for those who are deaf or hard of hearing would fit the bill. Only thing I've found so far is Earzz but they want £9.99 per month on an ongoing basis!0
