Ocean Parking parking ticket and fine from Trace Debt Recovery

I am sorry if this has already answered but my son has received lots of parking fines next to his flat at Pomona Strand in Manchester. He parked there for a long time without any fines. There is very little signage if any but all of his neighbours have got fines. He ignored them only to be sent fine after fine. He eventually paid over £1000 in fines as i was concerned as his car is registered under my address. Then he received a letter weeks later from Trace Debt Recovery for £170 and i was so annoyed it was still on going I paid it!!
Having read through other peoples comments I dont know if i had to pay Ocean nor Trace - please help, i am very confused

First off they are not fines, only a court can impose a fine.
Secondly, why would he let himself continue to get 'lots of' fines.
And third, why are you paying for him. His car should be registered at his own address, he is probably not being honest with his insurance company.0 -
Definitely not fines, just invoices from Ocean Parking, parking charge notices, PCNs, issued to the name and address of the Registered Keeper, obtained from the DVLA database, presumably going to your home address, not his address
Nobody should be paying Trace or any other debt collectors
If he isn't authorised to park there, then he should stop parking there, on private property

Ouch. A grand?!Ocean don't do court. Interestingly they don't have any legal standing to issue their tickets for Metrolink stations as the land belongs to the rail network still. It's a bit of a scam between Metrolink and Ocean. That's why Ocean never do court because they don't want to undermine their cosy relationship and profit stream with the tram network.Just ignore the latest nonsense they sent you.1

Oh dear. That's a lot of money he could have spent on something else. Why did he and you pay? Nobody pays these. The letters were meant to be ignored.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

God I feel like a complete idiot! I wonder how I can go about getting the cash back?? Or am I just going to have to write it off??0

You'd have to sue them in court.0

But you'd have no grounds. I don't understand why both of you were spooked by some trashy letters and decided to pay over a grand to a scam industry instead of coming here first. This is very sad for us and you because you were conned and you can't recover your money now. Learn from it!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
