Do not tick the remember your credit card when buying online

I would like to tell everyone about possible data breach and maybe how to avoid it.
I had 2 of my credit card automatically locked because of suspicious activity. I have more than 2 credit/debit card and each card I use for certain type of spending (groceries, energy, DIY, etc). So it was easy for me to find where someone could have possibly got my details. In this case there were 2 places where I've used these 2 cards. I have used them in other places as well but these 2 companies were where I've used both together. One was in shop in person where I used contactless and the other place was online. When checking out my shopping online the box was ticked to remember my card details so these were remembered against my online account. I've now removed my card details from my online account. It may be more work each time I shop online to add my card details back on, but I'm going with the less people who have my details the better.
I'm grateful to credit card companies for stopping the suspicious payments.

Where card details are stored online these details are always encrypted.  You might have noticed that when there are data breaches, people might get your name, addressand other details but never your card details.

And with some it won't even be the merchant that stores them but their payment gateway that simply gives them a key to hold which can only be used by them

Keep reading about these data breaches and how it affects everything but not yet seen where this breach is and why
some say to change your gmail passwords?

The only place I login with that password is gmail itself and I doubt they have a data breach.

My Amazon password is super simple and payment details are saved and no suspicious activity, password set
