Hi All
I'm taking my OH to Bergamo on the 18 - 20 Jan for a w/e. It's our first time away from the kids for 8 years. We are staying in Bergamo old town, is it easy to get from the airport to this area? Also it it worth travelling to Lake Como (??).
Any help is greatly appricated

You can get a bus from the airport into town in Bergamo. It is relatively cheap - the place to buy the tickets is a shop inside the airport by the doors as you are leaving.
Lake Como is good - to get there the best thing would be to get a train from Bergamo to Lecco (change at Lecco) and travel to Menaggio (this is the way that I went when I went backpacking). You can get ferries up and down the lake. Como itself is good, lots of expensive shops, pedalo, flying boats etc. At the opposite end of the lake to Como - is a place called Dongo (tis true) and here you can hire a powerboat to go on the lake for 40 euros - they show you how it works and voila easy as pie but you do need two sets of eyes because the shoreline looks the same when you go back to the marina.
Hope you have a fab time.0 -

Also take cash, we had an overnight stay there last year and hardly anywhere took cards (visa) and the cash machine wouldn't work! Taxis are very expensive too.
It's a very nice place though, have a great time0
