Euro Car Parks - No Charge Letter only Bailiffs Collection

Hi there

In October last year I parked at my work and forgot to put a ticket on my car. This happened on 3 occasions in the month (other days I had paid). I have a permanent parking pass for my other car so when I park a different reg car it’s easy to forget.

I’d have realised at some point through the day and thought “I’ll wait for the Charge notice and pay it when it comes through”.

No parking charges arrived and I had forgotten all about it. I’m confident of this as I open all my mail.

Yesterday I received a collection letter from DCBL dated 16/5 and I have until tomorrow to pay £510. £100 charge + £70 fee per parking charge.

They said I can’t appeal but I didn’t receive and notices and I’m not sure where that leaves me.

I’m not disputing the parking charges - I hold my hands up to that. But how do I prove I didn’t receive any communication from Euro Car Parks? If I don’t pay it by tomorrow they are going to take me to court.

No bailiffs are involved,  the debt collectors letter tells you that !

Its a debt collectors letter, so read the 4th post in the newbies sticky thread in announcements near the top of the forum

Ignore DCBL , powerless debt collectors,  so DO NOT PAY DCBL

ECP will eventually issue a court claim against you via DCB Legal,  using MCOL,  so come back here to this thread when DCB Legal send you a Letter of Claim giving you 30 days notice,  as a pre cursor to the inevitable court claim

You can't prove you didn't receive pcns.
You're confident you open all your mail but are you confident the DVLA holds your current address.
Best check that car's V5C document, if address details are incorrect you will need to action as per NEWBIES Announcement thread post 4 Debt Recovery Stage changed address.
DCBL will have done a trace to find you.
They always threaten to take people to court but this often happens

Court claim will be after the Letter Before Claim from DCB Legal. So plenty of time yet. Certainly don't pay. You hold your hands up but what do you know about contract law?

Who owns the land and who issued the permit?

To be clear: you are NOT going to be paying £510 tomorrow, or likely anything at all.

You missed the PCN letters because the DVLA gave them whatever address was on your logbook.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
