Morning all. Sunny here atm so will risk hanging out the washing.
We had a lively afternoon yesterday with both young grandsons visiting; very quiet once they'd gone. I made what I thought was a big vat of chilli using 1 kg of mince, amongst other bits, but it only just fed 6 adults and 2 children. Will have to cook more another time.
Today DH is driving his sister down to Hampshire to stay with their other sister for 2 weeks so they are meeting up for a handover and pub lunch. I already had an appointment booked to get my nails done for the wedding so will stay home and sort things out here. Tonight I'm playing for my Morris side just the far side of Aylesbury so looking forward to that.
Hope you get a nap later @mehefin and safe travels to the funeral @camelot1001

Good morning ☺️
It was wet and windy here yesterday, so the wash load has only just gone out on the line. Fingers crossed, the sun stays out for the duration.
This afternoon, we are going to the cinema to see Thunderbolts. It's not my type of film, but it was requested, so I'm obliging. With that in mind, I'm making both lamb skewers and vegetable skewers for tonight. With the preparation done early, they will be quick to cook. I'm also going to make a red onion/red pepper cous cous. We don't mind eating that cold, so it's a simple meal all round.
Cleaning wise, I aim to deep clean the sitting room. The throws on the sofa need a wash, and the dust which has taken up residency needs ejecting.
Hope you all have a good day ☺️12 -
Morning all and thanks @mehefin for starting us off today. I'm so sorry to hear you've had yet another sleepless night and hope you can grab a catnap to make up for it as well as find the source of the banging.
It's another day of sunshine and showers here but without the wind (so far). Happily, it does feel slightly milder.
Yesterday's "must" of checking on the credit card payment was resolved; it hadn't been processed so I tried again and all is well. I seem to vaguely remember that fast payments don't always happen over Bank Holidays so that was probably the reason. SM delivery arrived - you might know I'd just gone up to the loo! As expected, much freezer juggling was needed to fit everything in - taking out a couple of things for defrosting and transfers of small amounts of stuff from large containers into smaller containers did the trick. Another wash load done - dried indoors - so I'm more or less up to date with laundry. There's no rush for what's left in the basket.
Today's "must" is to request a new repeat e-script, then two "would like to do" tasks. One is to clean the drops etc on the light fitting so I can put away the bulky stepladder before it takes up permanent residence in the living room. The other is my photo wall. I've decided to hang family photos in a group on one wall rather than have them dotted about on various surfaces - makes for easier cleaning and should have more of a visual impact. (That's my creative head speaking.) Just need to decide on a layout and they can be hung up. I may or may not go for a walk, time and weather dependent. Tea tonight is fish fingers, oven chips and peas, strawberries for afters.
@themsthebreaks - Hello, and welcome to our daily chats.
@-taff - I like a bit of batch cooking when I'm in the mood, saves time further down the line. You're always so busy I'm surprised you don't take a break from posting more often! BTW, I got some Welsh cakes in yesterday's delivery - I hope they don't disappoint.
@camelot - Safe journey, I hope your aunt's funeral goes as well as can be hoped for.
Right, it's time to tackle the daily doings so I'll stop waffling on. Have a good day and take care. Usual hugs where needed or wanted. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
Morning All
Very wet early doors but the sun is trying to poke it's head out. I have washing to go out so hoping it lasts.
Welcome themsthebreaks
Derek hope you catch some extra zzzz later
Camelot hope the funeral goes as well as these things can with no upsets
Meeting DD tonight for a girls night natter. DGC away so she has a bit of natter catch up.
Received 3 quotes for our bathroom yesterday, all different scenarios so DH and I need to discuss. We are looking to futureproof as it currently has a huge bath to climb into to have a shower. Decisions Decisions
Hope everyone has a good day hugs to all who want them

@newroadahead We've just had our bath replaced with a shower and a new floor and vanity unit put in. Well worth it. I've got a dodgy knee so well worth not having to climb in and out of the bath anymore.

IZZY you have just taken me back about 45 years! We were sailing to Sweden and going round the Hook of Holland we encountered Force 10 gales. The captain declared it was too hazardous to continue and dropped anchor. I have sailed before and since then but never have I felt as ill as I did on that voyage. They were doling out anti sickness pills and virtually everyone on board were taking them. It was while they were filming the tv series Triangle on board the ship (Kate O'Mara and Larry Lamb if anyone remembers it!) ) and filming was halted as they were all too ill. We eventually disembarked in Gothenburg when we should have been on our way back!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"9

Welcome back @Izzy - good to hear you enjoyed your cruise, apart from the seasickness obviously! Many years ago I was on a ferry from the UK to Belgium with my parents and the sea was choppy to say the least. I was OK, so was DF (ex-navy) but poor DM wasn't. Her face turned green.
I can still manage to get in the bath but getting out is tricky so I tend to use the over-bath shower. My one concession is an over-bath board that I can sit on to wash legs, feet etc. Mind you, if I keep on shrinking height wise it won't be long before I need a step stool!Be kind to others and to yourself too.9 -
I have a bath which I don’t think I have ever used ,except for the over bath shower ,Even before my new shoulder and last year my new hip ,I doubt whether I’d be able to get out .
fortunately I have a separate shower room .
Been to a talk about the Harvey’s of Ickworth this morning ,very interesting ,now trying to motivate myself to do some housework work .
got some food out of the freezer for today and tomorrow ,the shed freezer is coming down nicely and I am determined to defrost it before refilling it .
feeling a bit flat again ,I hate bank holidays now !
must stop feeling sorry for myself
Stay safe all11 -
@mehefin - Our neighbor has a roof where the corner lifts up and then bangs in the wind. But every time they went out to check on it, they couldn't see anything wrong. Are there any loose corners on your sheds that might go up and down in the wind but look just fine when there isn't one? We had to let them know where the noise was coming from as we could tell from our yard which corner was involved.6
