I presume you're using your time, your equipment and your payment facilities to book the tickets. No doubt your internet provider and credit card company have T&Cs which say you shouldn't be using them for business purposes.
Your employer is saving money by having you arrange travel on their behalf - no admin or employing staff to do this.
Therefore it follows that the compensation on offer is yours.
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

So I work for the NHS. If I travel with the job, the NHS pays. If I am delayed, I get refunded - I give that money back to the NHS. How is your conscience if you are pocketing money.
    Conscience is irrelevant
Conscience is relevant as we all have to live with our own, even if some people are hugely lacking one.

Following that logic, anyone working from home would be required to have a separate broadband (for business account) and probably have their gas and electric on a business contract too.  I'd expect in reality providers would regard something you do as part of your employment to be 'personal' use, so long as the service isn't being used exclusively for business purposes, or for running your own business.

The only thing I've come across where doing something on behalf of an employer requires specific arrangements is when it comes to insurance for using your car on the employer's business (as opposed to commuting).

In any event, breaching the internet provider or credit card company's T&C's doesn't generate a right to reclaim money from your employer that you haven't paid out.  So I don't see how it does follow.

Bottom line, if you are travelling in work time and the employer is paying for the travel then it is the employer (if anyone) who suffers a loss as a result of the delay.

I once claimed compensation for a delayed work flight and kept it, on the basis that I was the one who was over half a day late to a client and then had to work even longer hours of an evening in my hotel to get the job done.

The only thing that matters in this situation is what the HR policy states

If you were delayed from returning to work, I think the employer should get the compensation. If you were delayed from returning home after work, then you should keep the compensation.

    There's no dilemma here.
