I'm getting FTTP broadband and the router will be installed downstairs while my main desktop computer is upstairs and rather than run cables upstairs like I currently have for Virgin Media I am going with WIFI and fitting a PCI WIFI card in my desktop.
Should I go for a branded PCI card like TPlink or an unbranded card from Ebay.
As long as it has Bluetooth does it really matter?

What sort of cable do you have for VM currently? Any chance you could reuse?
Don't think that Bluetooth has any part in this requirement.0 -

I don't have bluetooth on my desktop, just thought I would add it at the same time0 -

Ah, gotcha, I see now that PCI cards with both Wi-fi and Bluetooth onboard are a thing.
Have you tested the Wi-fi signal upstairs (eg with a mobile) with the existing router downstairs? No guarantee that the new router will give the same performance but it would give an indication.0 -
