British gas fit team are useless

Why are they so useless. Decided to change my FiT to British Gas (BG) as I have a fixed energy deal with them Had been with EDF for years but when they changed their system it was chaos. The changeover to BG went smoothly at first until I decided to move from Deemed energy to SEG. Don't have a battery pack and the best deal for me would be SEG at 15p per unit. I have a smart meter so it all looked good. I filled in BG's form and attached pics of my generation meter and export reading on my smart meter. Submitted on 20 April and BG ackowledged receipt. A week later BG send me an email asking me to submit the form. Rang them, on hold for 20 Minutes and then talk to a female who looked at it all and said'thats all fine but I need an email from you confirming you wish to change to SEG'. Even though that statement is on the form I filled in and submitted on 20/04 already had that and BG acknowledged receipt. 5 days later - repeat, we need you to fill in the form. Another 20 mins on hold and then the female says ' It all looks in order, we'll switch within 24 hours'. 5 days later - repeat except this time I get cut off after the person answering goes away to check. Blood pressure well up now. Submit complaint. Told it takes 10 days to look at it. 5 days later BG rang me and said they would transfer me on 7 May to which I responded that I was leaving BG completely and I would not expect to pay cancellation fee, and would be doing so via the ombudsman and several consumer advice sites such as this. Give us another week was the reply.
Whenever you enqure or email it's always replied with a message that they will answer within 5 days but they don't. Absolutely useless.
