2 missed payments for loan i knew nothing about.

I recently checked my credit report to find i had 2 late payment marks for a £17 unsecured loan i knew nothing about.
This account was not on my report a few weeks before yet states its been open since August 2024 and the leave it till now to leave the 2 missed payment marks even though I haven’t paid anything for the previous months.
After contacting TransUnion to dispute it they said it was for Nectar sleep and finance I took out for a mattress with Duologi back in 2021 they had since past the £17 debt to NCO Europe.
After checking my emails I found the email from Nectqr sleep saying they were issuing a 50% refund (as I was going to return it) which would clear the remaining debt. This was August 2021.
Duologi sold all loans taken out to NCO EUROPE back in 2024.
I haven’t heard anything from any of these companies up until a few weeks when I emailed NCO Europe after TransUnion refused to remove the marks.
I told NCO that I will not be making any payments until the marks have been removed and that I have proof it was cleared.
They have since ignored my emails for the past two weeks.
I’ve raised it again with Transuinion but don’t hold out hope as it seems it’s down to NCO to remove them.
Where do I go from here ? It clearly shows on my report that this loan and the payments make no sense or I’d have missed payments every month from August 2024 not just March and April.
How do I get these marks removed if NCO refuse to and TransUnion are unwilling to help?
Thanks in advance for any sound advice.

Perhaps you'd get a bit further if you showed a little more humility with NCO.
Going in guns blazing with "you'd better remove the marks or I won't pay you" isn't going to get you very far with a DCA. They'll have paid pennies in the pound and they have massive leverage over you. It's also contradictory. If, as you claim, the debt was settled by the return of the product then why would you offer to pay them anything?
If I were you I'd reengage them, this time being a little more reasonable and advising them that the debt should have been settled by the return of the mattress and supply the evidence of this.0 -
Would you not be peeved if a company that after researching are known for their underhand tactics had left two late payment marks on your credit report for no reason. The first email I sent was polite asking about the debt and what it was for as at the time I had no clue till TransUnion got back to me after raising the first dispute.0

TransUnion are only interested in statements of fact. They will not remove the markers. NCO have to remove them. Your goal is to get them removed. So you will have to persuade NCO to do so. If this means being nice to the bad guy then you'll have to just do that in order to get the result you need. I know this sucks. I've been there and had to do it myself.NCO need to prove the debt and they are legally obligated to do so. But their goal is to buy debts and make money. They will be dealing with lots of people moaning. They will have thick skins. You need to win with clear, calm statements of fact. Explain what arrangement you entered into and what correspondence you received. You need to clarify, did you still own £17 but were not informed? Or was the debt completing repaid and the £17 is bogus? Did you receive any money back from Nectqr? In my experience my wife got hit with 3 years of non-payment markers for £11 we didn't know about. This resulted in a failed mortgage offer and was very stressful. The phone company involved admitted it was their mistake as they had never billed us correctly and they removed the markers. But I had to email the CEO. Normal customer services had no idea how to help.0
