Good morning all, thanks @Gers for the start. Yesterday the weather started well enough but soon descended into sunshine and showers, some of them quite squally. Rain overnight, sunny at the moment but more rain forecast from mid-morning onwards for the best part of the day. If we're lucky, we might get up to the dizzy heights of 12 or 13 deg but that chilly wind will make it feel cooler than that.
Yesterday morning I did a towels wash, made two tubs of salad stuff - one potato, pea & ham and the other orzo pasta with cheese & mushrooms - and the lonely banana was joined by a block of chopped up white baking chocolate so I ended up with a dozen banana & choc chip muffins rather than the usual banana loaf. In the afternoon I alternated between reading, knitting and snoozing. Like @SO, I didn't see anyone to speak to although I saw plenty of dog walkers out and about; despite that I had a satisfying BH Monday.
I have a SM delivery coming later today, just one sub (acceptable) and, as it's the monthly big shop, it will take a fair while to put away. I see some freezer juggling on the horizon too! The other "must do" is to check if the credit card payment I made the other day was processed or not. If not, I'll try again today. If all else fails I'll have to ring the bank as the payment needs to be received by tomorrow to avoid paying interest - not something on my radar! Fingers crossed. Tea tonight is spag bol, afters can be grated apple mixed with some yummy honey & ginger yogurt.
I hope everyone has a pleasant and stress-free day followed by a restful night's sleep, take care one and all. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
Moring everyone
We had heavy rain last night but the sun is out this morning and it's forecast to stay dry until tea time, the wind seems to have dropped a bit too. It's been wild all weekend - little one have spent a lot of time in our little house in the garden. She was thrilled with the big blackboard on the dividing wall so we've done lots of chalk pictures.
I'm taking her to Alnwick Castle today - we'll get the bus just after 11, I would have preferred to go a bit earlier but she has nurses going to flush her port at 10am. Before we come home we'll go and see my auntie as she is moving down south soon to be close to her daughter.
Right I'd best get on and make our picnic...no doubt she'll be into it before we're 5 minutes down the road!
Hope everyone has a good day x12 -
Good morning 😊
I have been reading along for a few days and thought I would like to join in. I am the homemaker in our family of three, so part of my day is spent preparing food which is mostly made from scratch, carrying out the household chores, and taking responsibility for the monthly budget.
When it comes to meals, I follow a vegan diet, whereas my family are meat eaters, so today I am preparing a chicken pasta bake, and making garlic flatbreads - which need to be lactose free due to intolerance - and spicy bean burgers, which I will have with salad.
There is a wash load to sort, and the half bathroom needs a clean, then I plan on doing a stock-take, as there is the possibility of redundancy looming, so I am trying to cut down on our spending. Thankfully, the cupboards and freezers are fit for bursting, so it won’t be too difficult at first, to eat from stores if the worse does happen, but it might become more challenging as time goes on. We will see.
Enjoy your day, all. I will look forward to getting to know you 😊12 -

Morning everyone and thanks for the start @Gers x
Welcome @themsthebreaks - sounds like a busy day ahead for you!
I have a NWD today but DH and DD are at work. So far I have de-doggoed our house (DS1's pooch went home this morning), vaccumed round and mopped the kitchen/utility floors. Have done a washload and it's out on the airer. The washing line snapped yesterday, so we only have the maiden on the patio for the timebeing, as a result, some things will be TD'd. I've also marinated some chicken for tonight's dinner. Next up is a tip run and to drop off a V!nted parel at the Evr! drop off. Oh and I went for a run this morning for the first time in about 4 months!! Was only 3km and I walked a bit of it, but at least I did it.
Good luck with the tomato growing @silver-oldie x
Have a lovely day out with DGD @dp1 x
Definitely contact the SW about Rob @RedRuby1231 - it really curtails his activities if he doesn't have his own money.
Have a good day all

Mornign all! Been awol for a bit, just because trying to fit in posting was a bit of a chore, along with posting itself. You know when you have a bit of internet fatigue? Plus I've been gardening so that's more time gone...I was cat sitting at the weekend too so I binged Narcos frist series again, bought an Angel Wings plant on th way home and delivered two store cupboard meals instead of taking the easy way out takeaway yesterday. I really need to do an inventory again, thigns have been moved around and I've no idea what exactly is in the freezers. This week is doc appointments, phone appointments and someone is coming at the weekend to remove the concrete path, hooray! which means I can get one with redesigning the garden and start movng things around. Today it's raining though so greenhouse construction will have to wait until tomorrow. Inventory day then...Gers, glad you had a good time, well done the security guard for plonking you back on your feet, you'll laugh about that in a bit..I watched Ted Lasso and was really impressed with Nick Mohammed, will have to look out for him coming near here. Allie, hope you're not doing mental steps again today! Ruby, can they be reported for financial abuse? How lovely you're enjoying the bird table, and funny about your bird bingo
Welcome TTB, have you got a good bean burger recipe by any chance? dp1 have a lovely time with her today, good to see she's chugging along.. Yorkslass, sounds like a busy day! Love the sound of the orzo salad. It's so easy to batch up and make things ready I don't know why I don't do it more. SO, the ground is rock hard seems like everywhere here. On the plus side it should make my concrete path easier to remove. And ooo, fresh homegrown tomatoes cannot be beaten. Chris, Tiger beer? Tiger balm? Rosy, the holiday sounds good, now I want one too! Take care all, changeable weather = chageable plans so I hope it's working out for you all!

Now that I’ve done a stock take, and seen what needs using up, today I’m going to make spicy butterbean burgers.
Ingredients:
1 tin of butterbeans
red onion, finely chopped
1/2 red pepper, finely chopped
1 scotch bonnet, finely chopped
1tsp garlic paste
1tsp turmeric
1tsp ground cumin
1tsp harissa
2tblsp tomato purée
2tblsp nutritional yeast
1tblsp chickpea flour (use more if the mixture is too wet)
For the ‘egg’ mix, I use 1tblsp chia seeds mixed with 3tblsp water, then set aside until it’s gloopy. This will help to bind the mixture.
Mash all the ingredients together, then shape into burgers. Carefully fry each side on the griddle, then finish off in the oven. Depending on how much heat you like, determines how much of the chilli you use. If you deseed it, then it won’t be as hot. Don’t make the bean burgers too thick, and they will cook better. I don’t eat bread, but you can coat them in breadcrumbs.Any beans will go well.
I also have a tin of kala chana to use up, so I’m going to make a houmous with it, and serve that alongside burgers and chopped salad.6 -
