Ok so new tablet and I wanted to view TV.
It asked something like - permission to access tablets DRM file.
I didn't understand so did a search.
So is this normal and safe? I thought it was on More 4. Not the ch 4 catchup... could have been other as it's an old TV series.
I'm using duckduck which redirects you to YouTube if it can't host a video.
But I can view iPlayer and other main channels without this request
Appreciate being able to understand the safety of this.

If you Googled (or DuckDuckGoed) this, what did it say?
I'm used to seeing DRM being interrogated on my devices when borrowing ebooks from libraries, and me and my device have to be registered with Adobe, whose DRM system (ADE) is used by them.1 -
Flanerus it says that it's about copyright presumably preventing copying.
But I don't understand why it has to have permission to access my gadget or how to find out if it's safe or what to be wary of.
It doesn't appear on my old laptop.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

A quick Google and as you said, it's about copyright of media and setting out any restrictions that are in place for said content.
If it's asking for permission to access, it's so the site can give you the certificate to watch it
If it's a legitimate website you're on, such as more4 or itvx, I personally wouldn't worry too much about requests to access.1 -
Are you trying to view these through DuckDuckGo ( a web browser) ? If so the service will need to authenticate that the device has appropriate copy protection and licensing in place. To do this it needs to check the certificate store on your device.
For a smoother experience you might wish to install the app for the appropriate service such as iPlayer, iTVX, 4 etc2 -
Thanks everyone.
PHK that would fit just right.
The device comes with Google (of course) so I may see if I can just use that but be extra careful what the site is before seeing if an app is needed.
