Chinese Takeaway and the lounge carpet...
Wyndham
Had a Chinese takeaway, and for some reason decided to throw it all over the lounge capet! The plate slipped and next thing I knew it was all on the floor
I cleared up the immediate mess, dabbed the carpet, then applied bicarb and left overnight. While it is mostly out, there is one part which still has a definate smell of Chinese takeaway. I think this was the 'impact' zone, and it's from the (chop suey) sauce, which I assume has soaked through the carpet?
The carpet is mixed brown, so there isn't a visible stain as such, it's more that it has blended with the rest of the pattern. The carpet feels a bit tuftier at that point as well, not as soft.
Anyone have any ideas of what I might try next?

The coarseness is probably the remainder of the bicarb.
I keep some diluted carpet cleaner in a spray bottle for spots and such. It will probably even out with carpet cleaner.
If it's the smell then leave some bicarb in the carpet for a week or two.
Other things that might work could affect the colour of the carpet. I remember my potential and annoying mother in law cleaning a stain on her white carpet. It left one beautifully white area and the rest looked grubby. Hard to keep a straight face 😉I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

At some point buy/hire a carpet cleaner ( not just for this but carpets need a clean now and again anyway.
In the meantime, spray with Febreze.3 -
You could try a pet spray. I use Dr Beckmann pet stain & odour remover which works really well for clearing up cat puke off the carpet2

I bought some stuff off ebay once that someone had treated with Febreze, I had to get rid as it made me feel ill.
What about one of those little hand held steam cleaners?1
