Earthquakes on the Greek islands

I was considering booking a holiday to one of the Greek islands and on looking into it further I realised just how many earthquakes the Greek islands get. This obviously doesn't seem to deter the many hundreds of thousands of visitors they receive a year but it genuinely is making me consider if I should go there.
Am I overreacting? My current thoughts are don't let that deter me but then should I put myself at risk. Really grateful to hear other people's thoughts.

Greece, Italy and much of the eastern Mediterranean is an active tectonic area with earthquakes and volcanoes. It has been for millions of years and will continue to be for millions more. The risk of anything significant happening during a fortnight's holiday is really quite small.N. Hampshire, he/him. You go down that trail of thought and you'd never leave your house. Just do it3

I’m in Crete at the moment and was here when the last earthquake occurred earlier in the week. It was apparently 6.2 on the scale. We are on the north coast about 50km east of Heraklion, south of the quake centre. Our room did indeed shake for about 10 seconds at 6.20am. It woke us, we knew what it was, it passed. No structural damage or even minor damage at the hotel. It made for a conversation at breakfast but that was it. Everyone was around the pool that morning, later laughing at the rather dramatic online reports from the Daily Mirror, Daily Mail, Daily Record covering the ‘massive earthquake on tourist island’. They even it seems managed to find one family putting on there compo faces for a picture.
Bit of cloud today but a rather warm 31c. Don’t be put off by the media stories.2 -
We've been in Greece several times when they had an earthquake and once in Bali.
Still alive to tell the tale (which is really not that interesting).
Yes, you are over-reacting. You can be in the wrong place at the wrong time in your own house.

Yes, OP, you are over reacting. The vast majority of the 'earthquakes' recorded throughout Greece and the Greek Islands aren't even felt by people. We have experienced 2 tremors when on holiday in Crete. Neither did more than rattle the bottles in the bar. The most recent one was felt more but is still not a reason to change holiday plans.1

We visit the Greek islands every year (usually Crete, Rhodes or Kos).
Maybe we have been lucky but we have never experienced an earthquake there.Past caring about first world problems.0 -

If you look hard enough you will find reasons not to travel anywhere. Unfortunately you will, at the same time, probably find reasons not to stay where you are too!0
