Wife retired but still working NI question

My wife reached retirement age on 28th April this year, but she is still working for a company. She is not self employed. Next week she should receive her first full state pension payment. Yesterday, she recieved her May payment from her company, which was £200 less than last month. I looked at her payslip and they have deducted £109 for NI which I believe to be wrong, as she shouldn't be paying NI anymore. Her HR person said that she would have to contact HMRC, so I said, it is her payroll department which should be dealing with this.
Any advice would be appreciated.

https://www.gov.uk/tax-national-insurance-after-state-pension-age/stopping-paying-national-insuranceYes, it is the employer who should be correcting it.1) Inform employer she is past state pension age2) Ask employer to correct their submission and refund overpaid NIbut she can reclaim direct from HMRC if the employer won't play ball

Thanks for your responses, I needed a bit of confirmation, because it is a long time since I last did payroll.0
