Recommendation for book on doing own accounts as a sole trader

Thank you. I had not heard of Mettle, but I see that it doesn't run on a PC, only a phone, and I don't like using my phone for things like that.

I don't know if it's because I've got a Community / Treasurer's account with NatWest, but I know that gives me access to FreeAgent, and I can get the account on my phone or online. 

Like you, I don't like doing banking on my phone, so I have an old phone which lives at home for that purpose. As long as I have WiFi, I'm away. Notification codes come to my regular phone (because the banking phone doesn't have a SIM). Don't know if that would help.

you can operate a Nat West business account, and thereby get FreeAgent software for free, without needing to use a mobile phone for either the banking or the software.
Nat West prefers to send you codes for logging in, but they still offer workarounds if you do not allow them to contact a mobile

Mettle works fine on an ipad / tablet.  You don’t really use it as such though as it’s linked into freeagent,  so you use that for matching transactions and creating invoices. 
The only thing I do on Mettle is pay my Wife her wages and transfer bill money to our joint account once a month.
