speeding ticket
Hi I just recieved a speeding ticket for going 26 mph in a 20 mph area.
So I will face the penalty or hopefully go to a speed awareness course.
However, there is one thing that is worrying me: The letter was sent to my previous address 3 days ago , as a friend still lives there. But this made me realize I have not updated my new address on my driving licence!
Will this occur a bigger fine and if so is there anything I can do to avoid that situation?
I'm worried that if I now change the address it will further complicate matters?
Any advice would be gratefully recieved.
Many thanks Zardust

I was under the impression that the letter(ticket) is sent to the address of the Registered Keeper as shown on the V5C?Has that been updated?4

The NIP ("ticket") will have been sent to the address on the V5C (logbook), not your licence. You need to update the address for both ASAP, and you can do that online.
After you reply giving your current address, all future correspondence will be sent there.1 -
Ah no it hasnt! Thank you for pointing that out.
In your opinion should I just leave that address for now and update after the penalty has been paid?
Many thanks

I would update both now, and hope you are offered a speeding awareness course instead of points.

.....and separately contact the police to confirm your current address. Belt and braces.1

The OP has a s172 request to complete. He simply needs to give his current address on that.1 -
Thank you all so much for your advice. I will endeavour to do all of this and post the result here.0

I would suggest you change your address with the DVLA for your driving licence ASAP, my OH had the same issue and changed hers as soon as she received the notice of intended prosecution. Not notifying the DVLA of an address change can result in a fine of up to £1000

By that I mean separately to the V5 and the DL. Worth checking insurance too.....have the insurers been notified of change of address?0 -
Hi Im just worried if I change my address now they'll realize I didnt change it before and fine me for that??As I would have to explain why the fine was sent to and old address.
Although I appreciate that the general consensus here is to change it on my licence asap...0
