Quick ISA question - how long is the 'year'?

Will be opening an ISA at the end of next month - there are some which give a 'bonus' rate for a year of an extra 1% or so, but I guess this question relates to all ISAs - if I open it and put the money in at the very start of July is the money tied into the account for a calendar year or until the start of the next financial year that the ISA limits apply to? In other words, would I be looking at moving it etc in April or July of next year?

A simple question but always want to make sure I know exactly what is going to happen!

The bonus will last a calendar year.

Tax year start/end is not relevant.

    Read the T&Cs.

The tax year is irrelevant .
it could be exactly 12 months , or in some case can be slightly longer.
You need to read the T’s & C’s if the account you are interested in

It will either be a year - i.e. if you open an account on 1st July, it will mature on 30th June. Or the product might have an actual maturity date, so might be slightly more or less than a year. You need to read the T&Cs.

You'd be surprised how few people read them; what do they say?

Nobody here can tell you exactly what is going to happen, because it varies depending on the account, and you don't appear to have settled on a specific account. As above, it is a requirement for such an offer to have terms and conditions. The quickest way to find out the definitive answer is to look there. If you don't understand the T&Cs, then if you quote them here, I'm sure someone will be happy to help.

We don't know, as the OP hasn't told us which ISA they are thinking of. Posters seem to have us guessing which products they have, or are looking at on this forum, which is why they get vague answers.

It’s as bit vague at the moment because I haven’t settled on one and wanted a bit of info before I start comparing, rest assured due diligence will be done!
