Morning all, thanks for the start Derek. Sorry to hear you had another sleepless night, hopefully tonight will be better. The sun is shining here and there's just a hint of a breeze but rain is on its way tonight so it looks as if today will be our last completely dry day for a while. Typical for Bank Holiday! At least it feels milder today with top temperatures of 19 deg and lows of 11 deg. Yesterday was very chilly and I even had to put the heating on for an hour in the evening.
Yesterday I walked to the PO and posted card/letter - so far, so good. Then I passed the hairdressers intending to call in but the salon was closed as she's in the process of locating elsewhere. It will be where she said it would be but, when I checked on google for directions, it's not as near as I was hoping. Relying on buses and shank's pony does have its drawbacks. I may be looking for a new hairdresser.
Next I trekked to the parade with the bag of CS donations and the one where I donate the most often (CRUK) and that is the furthest away was closed, as in closed down with no notice on the window where they have gone. The Hospice shop got the bag instead and I had a browse. A couple of things took my fancy but not enough to buy them and I spent just 50p on a paperback. I had a look around the other CSs too but again nothing bought.
Then it was over the road to the M&S foodhall. Their scanner gadgets weren't being used and there was no click and collect either, but the shelves were surprisingly well stocked. This isn't my usual food haunt but I did buy a few items including some hake fillets, one of which I'll have for tea tonight with carrots and peas.
By the time I got home I was more than ready for a cuppa after which I cooked potatoes that were sprouting (enough for two meals and some leftover for potato salad), a tub of hummus and two portions of tuna & mushroom pasta bake, one for last night and one for the freezer.
Today's plans are less energetic - a walk to the Co-op (not sure what to expect stock-wise), the usual Friday admin stuff and planning June's grocery delivery.
@Gers - That's a lovely image of your DM. I still miss mine and she's been gone 36 years.
@dp1 - I gave up on colouring my hair years ago and really don't mind the grey that's taking over! Nice to hear LO was able to enjoy Sports Day.
@Snoozer - Enjoy your visit to Wales, fingers crossed you'll all be feeling better.
@Ruby - I'll keep my fingers crossed for a good outcome for Rob.
Enough waffle, time to get on. Enjoy your day, take care and stay well. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.9 -
A busy couple of days ,nothing special just bitty ,drove to next town to meet retired colleagues ,we’re all at least 15 yrs retired now so much chatter ,apparently I missed a torrential downpour here in Gainsborough’s town but nothing at all 15 miles north !
my new rose was delivered and it’s beautiful ,to replace a Never Forgotten hybrid tea that DH’s favourite carers brought me after he died ,it was never happy where it was and when my gardener and I moved it and 4 other unhappy ones ,they flourished and having been watered regularly and talked to and gently encouraged,it died completely .
I i was really upset and couldn’t find the same one anywhere locally ,finally found it on line in Nottingham and taking a deep gulp atThe price I ordered it .It looks really healthy and is v big ,so fingers crossed it will do well
out to a quiz tonight .
stay safe all
