Been trying to get a visa for France for a non UK citizen and the French website directs you too those guys for an appointment...

Except the aren't any appointments. Ever. I keep refreshing the website and it always says there are none available.

You can pay them an extra £250 to come out to you...

Anyone managed to get an appointment in Manchester? Is there some other way to get a visa for France?

I suggest you rethink your travel plans and see if any Schengen country has any appointments available... if so, travel from the UK to that country and then on to France the following day.

That's a good idea, I'll look into it. Or just go somewhere else, France doesn't seem to want us.
