I have been very remiss and never changed my google password.
Can a knowledgeable person just check my logic as it's not something I can afford to co** up!
I access google on a desktop computer an android phone and an android tablet.
My plan is to change the password on the desktop. I assume I will be logged out on the phone and tablet but then be prompted to enter the new password when I try to access on those devices..?
Thank you

Yep, that's how it works.
You may stay signed on to devices/services if you have given permission for those services to use your Google account to login. You should be given the option to force these accounts to logout (if you have any) at the point of changing your password..
Some smart devices (eg speakers that you "OK Google" at) might stay connected until powered off, then they'd need re-authorising to your account.
Using a password manager? Good for generating a long gibberish password (Google passwords can be up to 100 characters) and remembering it.1 -

I don't think it matters if you don't change your password regularly. All my passwords for websites are different and I make them as long (up to 128 characters) and complex (upper & lower case letters, number and special characters) as the websites allow. I also use two factor authentication where available.Changing a password is not difficult but unless your password is insecure or compromised then there's no advantage to changing it.2

I would tend to agree - unless you suddenly realised that you used password123 then there's probably little value in changing it0

Sensible companies no longer enforce a password change every 30 days as employees were just changing the number on the end of the same word.0
