Case against EDF direct debit rise

Hi
Only recently switched to EDF this spring and they are already looking to up my direct debit. As we move into summer my usage is coming down and I am nearly two months in credit. Anyone have any advice on arguing my case? Oh and I nearly forgot I'm due a referral credit soon.
Thanks

Your initial direct debit was probably too low due to an error. So there's nothing wrong with them correcting their error. A higher direct debit does not mean your power/gas is getting more expensive.

what's your tariff? What's your usage? How much do you expect to pay over a year? how does that compare to your monthly DD?
Once you've got that info you can "argue" your case if valid.0 -
Their online system allows me to adjust the DD . Can you adjust yours down ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1 -
I am in this situation. I simply messaged them saying that my account was in credit and I did not agree to an increase in my DD. They then messaged me and sent me a text message saying they wanted to speak with me to discuss the amount and my financial situation. I did not pick up their call, and after a few attempts they got bored and stopped trying.

That's an interesting tactic. In answer to the points raised my tariff equates to an OTM tariff from last year I was on and my DD (roughly the same as the EDF one) just put my account into debit with them at the end of the winter. So really well balanced. I have to admit I didn't notice the customer adjustment facility but I would assume this will be managed inline with their desire to up it at this point.0
