Non RTS Meter - Letter from Scottish Gas

I've had a letter from Scottish Gas confirming my meter is not an RTS metter but suggesting as we still have storage heaters and have a dual rate meter "it may be affected once the radio signal is turned off".  Is this possible?  I don't want to get a smart meter as the 'phone signal is very poor.

Only RTS meters are affected by the BBC R4 long wave transmitters being switched off.
If you're in the northern half of GB, the smart meter network does not use mobile phone signals; it uses a commercial private radio network.

If you are in an area where a smart meter cannot communicate with the outside world then it will just act like your current one does, so it is not a real reason for not having one.

As you don't have an RTS meter, it won't need to be replaced until its certification period is about to expire.

As it's their meter they have the option to change it whenever they like within the certification period if it suits their operational requirements.
