Help with new laptop

A plea for help setting up new Windows 11 laptop I’m overwhelmed by all the choices which seem to be needed instantly before I can move on.
Comes with 1 month free trial Macafee premium preinstalled. I don’t want Macafee at all! It used to be virtually impossible to get rid of but can I now just uninstall the app via laptop settings? Or do I have to set up an account, cancel subscription which follows by default, & then uninstall.

I’ve declined offer of free trial of Microsoft 365 Personal. I have Office 13 installed on old laptop but not sure I still have product key. I only use Word & Excel. Will the free version be enough?
Used to be comfortable with this sort of stuff but advancing years are taking their toll so grateful for any help

If you've not got a mcaffee account then it should just be a matter if uninstalling the program.I use Libre Office rather than Microsoft Office on my home PC. It's very similar to Microsoft Office and I have no problems with it.

You can just uninstall McAfee or you can run this:Starting with Office 2013 you can just sign into the Office account at office.com and download and install it again.Other solutions are available. Also you don't need a Microsoft Account for Windows 11, never mind what the blurb says. You can make a new local account in Settings -> Accounts and then remove the online one.1

1. I do not have a new computer.Best
Are you sure that MacAfee has come pre installed? I would think that unusual.
2. Check:
Type into the bottom left hand search bar Control Panel, then left click on the box that appears.
Now choose Programs, left click
Now choose Programs & Features, left click
You should now have all the programmes that are installed on the computer.
3. If you do not see MacAfee in the list. It is not installed on the computer.
4. If MacAfee is installed on the computer you could try and use the Window uninstaller, but you may find it will leave stuff behind.
5. If MacAfee is installed, I suggest you go to YouTube & type in
How to uninstall MacAfee from Windows 11 computer
Watch the videos
6. As for Microsoft Office I do not use it.
I use the free Lire Office, i fine it works just as well. You might like to give it a go.

Might be worth doing a clean install of Windows to get rid of all the bloatware in one go.0

Giving up for the day now but thanks for the input. After several hours Chrome download ended with an error message. I was pretty sure it was Macafee stopping it.Managed to uninstall Macafee using just windows uninstaller this morning, then downloaded Chrome. Later spotted Macafee Webadvisor lurking so uninstalled that as well.Uninstalled several things I don’t need, like Family & Xbox. We’re both in our 70s & even younger grandchild had outgrown that sort of clutter. Also stopped several programmes from Startup.Still some housekeeping to do before it’s set up as I want it & it does seem incredibly slow to load any website with lots of photos (such as shopping ones). Not sure what if anything I can do about that but I’ll do some research.0
