Insurance premiums after cancer treatment

I am sure this has been discussed many times but… we have health insurance with Axa for core cover plus standard out-patient cover (three appointments a year) and guided option (they source a specialist). In early 2023 my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer and has had a stack of treatment. Premiums for the two of us have risen from £2904 (2022) to £3247 (2023), £4533 (2024) and we’ve just been notified this June it will be £6700 (£1723 for me and £4977 for her). Is there any limit to what insurance companies can do to increase premiums as much as they want? I assume it is not worth even thinking about trying to change insurers.

There is no limit to what they can raise premiums too, pricing is seen as a commercial consideration and regulation is minimal

You are free to shop around but the chances are pre-existing conditions will be excluded, you could look at something with moratorium on conditions which would mean pre-existing do become covered once you have been symptom, medicine and appointment free for 2 years (earliest starting point is your policy inception date). Note that the claims process is slower because they have to check your medical records each time
