    In fairness, the post you are quoting is from May - it's perfectly possible that their policies have changed in that timescale! Regardless though, if making a switch ahead of the end of a fix, ALWAYS double check exactly what position you will be in first - that is the only way of being certain what charges you will - or won't - get hit with!

    Yes and I've edited my post having had a chat with them and also seen the recent social media furore (and their own attempt to do damage limitation).

    To be fair to them, it could be argued that this is a 'no good deed goes unpunished' situation, but when waiving fees has become a well known custom and practice, and when they are all but inviting you to switch tariffs on their website, it's not a situation where any reasonable company would want to have to hide behind the strict wording of its T&Cs.

    Happily they are taking a more reasonable approach here and making it clearer that it will kick in from September, and acknowledging they could have done a better job here. So fair play to them I guess, even if this benefit is finally over.
