12 plate Mercedes went into a local garage for an annoying noise , turns out it’s a badly rusted rear subframe. 

Contacted the Sheffield branch and took it in a few days later . They had it approximately a week and the whole thing was replaced without any cost to us .

How come they did it FOC as there won't have been any warranty left on it?

Can't remember the full details but there is an issue with rear sub frames on certain Mercedes models and Mercedes will replace them which is why one of the YouTube posters (SPR Autos) refers customers in this exact position back to Mercedes for the work.

Mercedes cars have been covered by a 30 year corrosion warranty for years. MB forums have details of vehicles affected due to a manufacturing fault.

As stated it’s a known issue as long as we hadn’t done any welding they would fix it .
