Anyway to set a timer on a plug socket??

Hello all

We have a ring chime and oniy want it to chime during the day. However there's no schedule for ring available so can anyone please give me a link to maybe a socket plug that we can plug the ring chime into and then set the plug schedule so the ring chime only operates at the times we wish?

Also need a different schedule for the weekend as for the weekdays.

Hope someone can help?

Thanks all

I was looking at this but not sure it meets what we are needing?

I prefer to go with an established brand like TP-Link when dealing with mains power. I have a number of TP-Link Tapo P110 smart plugs controlling various appliances. The tapo app is very good and the plugs can be programmed in the ways you describe.

Before buying any smart switch, check what happens when you switch the doorbell power off then on. Not all devices can be controlled by remotely switching the power off and on. For example my air purifier requires buttons to be pressed to start whereas my dehumidifier starts operating when you "tap the app".

Last time I checked the P110 plugs were about £10 each or a pack of 4 was less than £30.

Is this just a basic wireless door chime or something fancier like a Ring doorbell with camera etc?

If it's the latter then you'll have to experiment to fin out how it behaves when powered up, as above.

If it's the former then still check but I suspect it will work. Worth noting that a lot of these I've experienced sound the door chime when they're connected, so you might think someone's at the door whenever the timer restores power to the chime.

Why wouldn’t you want to know if someone rings your doorbell at night?

Also if it is like ours, if you unplug it and plug it back in again, it reverts back to the default chime/tune ( there is a choice of about 20)

As an alternative you could try a smart socket

    https://www.screwfix.com/p/british-general-800-series-13a-2-gang-sp-switched-smart-socket-white/306hv

I've got several of these that I use as timers and as Alexa-connected devices as well

I have BG throughout my home and I've been universally impressed. The smart ones are sometimes a bit flaky to come back online after a powercut, but restore eventually

I much prefer the 800 series as they have a rounded top rather than the more squared-off 900

    Regards

This one looks better than the one I linked to on amazon.
Can I ask for the tp argos one, does it have to have Internet connection to work? Can it simply work with power?

It's a regular ring chime. And goes off of motion or someone rings front door.

What I'm worried about is if it will still work or will mess it up if it's turned off and then on again everyday? Ie if its turned off and and then back on will it work or need to be reconnected etc to work?

I have several of the P110 plugs.  It's a shame they don't make sockets as I'd prefer them over a plug.

    They've worked flawlessly.

They are internet connected and work from an app.  If you want stand alone then you would need a simple timer.  It should be ok turning the ringer on and off but not sure how that would affect settings.

I found a comment on the argos page and said they can run on a timmer via power and doesn't have to rely on Internet?
