GOOGLE OR MICROSOFT CLOUD

My free Microsoft 365 Basic has run over the cloud limit and they are now asking me to pay £1.99p per month for 100 GB storage.
Google One is offering the same 100GB storage for £1.59p per month. So the price difference is negligible.
I cant decide which is the best, I only use it for personal use not business, also I am not really all that savvy with computers.
Any ideas which to go for?

Why do you need the cloud storage?   Why not store it on your home or mobile devices?

    There maybe better options.

Neither if you are concerned about data security as they both have access to your data.

As to robustness, I guess both are the same.

Stick to Microsoft then, Google makes everything more awkward (as will Libre Office, Linux Mint etc)

    Consider jumping up to
Microsoft 365 Personal (£60/year) for 1TB (1,000GB) OneDrive storag and full desktop versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. plus apps for mobis, tablets etc.

Both do pretty much the same thing.

If your primary use is for backing up/synchronising with Windows machines then the integration you already have in place with OneDrive will be easier to continue. If most of your data is coming from Android devices then go for the Google option.

I find accessing OneDrive from an Android phone (if that's ever a requirement) rather clunky, Google Drive less so.

Are you sharing the storage with family? Google make this pretty easy to do with the paid service, with private and shared data areas available to others. Can't comment on how well MS do this.

Loads of other options, there are dozens of cloud storage suppliers out there costing from free to £££, some have higher standards of security and robustness than Google/MS if that's a concern.

Or do it yourself, some people prefer to take responsibility for this stuff in-house (or rather out-of-house for off-site storage of backups). Rather depends on your attitude to Big Corp (and your budget).

Or pay Google £15.99/yr and never have to delete anything ever again.
