Email asking if we want to change hotel or cancel or put up

We had an email yesterday saying our hotel in Egypt is having major construction and renovations before, during and after our holiday from 8 am to 11 pm.
They have offered
1. to change our hotel but we have to pay the difference, which being so close to the date not a lot available and the price is over £800 per couple more.
2. Cancel and get a full refund. Other holiday providers are also more expensive as it’s only a few weeks to go.
3. Put up with the noise and lack of facilities.
The hotel itself has given a long list of things affected to someone to post on facebook.
Any ideas please on options as easy jet wont budge on the price of similar holidays. They are basically saying cancel and we will refund you.
we have work booked off, hotel and car parking booked, transfers booked, dog and house sitters booked.
So frustrating. I appreciate we have been warned but not helped to get an alternative holiday.
thanks

Not sure what you can do - you can check your policy and see what that says - have you got travel insurance - you may be able to claim the different from that ( although it's probably a big excess ).

Have you asked them to waive the £800? - Btw - how many couples?

Do you have the option of keeping the flights and getting a refund on the hotel? There are always plenty of very affordable places in Egypt on the likes of Air BnB.

Alternatively, look at other possible holidays on the same dates that you could still take after getting a complete refund.

    Which company is it with?
I know TUI often have late deals on holidays but haven't used the others.
Check late at night and delete cookies after each search.

Also go into a travel agent and ask what is available for your dates.
Face to face is a whole lot easier.

Then you could potentially cancel and rebook.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I understood the suggestion to be, see if Easyjet are advertising any last minute deals rather than personally asking Easyjet for a deal.

What is the list of things affected that the hotel has given.  I'm wondering if its possible to work around  any of it, ie if they are working on a wing of the hotel and you are at the opposite end, it might be workable? Are any facilities like the pool unavailable?

Do they all pack in for quiet time between 11 and 3 like they do in morocco?

I would be tempted to accept the full refund and, as suggested above, seek a late deal with Jet2 or TUI - not an ideal compromise of course however better than flaffing around with Easyjet IMO.

True there are often last minute deals to be had.  The trouble is with work, house and dog sitters booked its matching an offer to the set dates you are stuck with.

Check the terms of the refund out too, I have read that many companies try and give credits and drag their heels on an actual refund.
