Net wont connect MSN

Ok so i bought a laptop 3 weeks ago and we have 2 pcs too
we are on wireless now however my msn wont connect, send or recieve messages
I am using msn 9.0 or 8.5 - the newest version
i am with virgin media and my router is a belkin 1
