Santander edge debit card for overseas spending and withdrawals

Is there any reason why the Santander edge debit card would not be included in Martins list of travel credit and debit cards?
Am I correct in saying there are no fees for using this card for foreign spending and cash withdrawals?
And the £3 monthly fee can be avoided by not setting any DD on the account?

It'll be because of the monthly fee. Yes, there are ways to avoid being charged the monthly fee but as you no doubt know it's a little complicated, and it negates one of the key benefits of the account (ie. cashback on monthly bills). I can only imagine the number of people who would complain to MSE when they do something wrong and start getting charged the fee when they didn't want to. Much simpler for them to recommend more providers where you don't need to jump through hoops or set things up in a non-standard way.

Yeah i thought maybe it was the £3 fee.
I was just thinking having it as a second option card for travel.
Already have Barclaycard rewards CC and that would be my first choice of use.

I think MSE are quite right not to mention it, because of the monthly fee. This should not stop savvy Edge account holders from using their card as they see fit B)

The MSE 'best buy' articles are relatively short, so don't represent themselves to be comprehensive summaries of entire markets, so there'll often be products close to those listed that didn't make the cut, which will sometimes be fairly subjective anyway.  Fee-free cards used to be quite hard to find but there's much more choice now....
