I'm looking at extending/boosting/<insertcorrectterminologyhere> my home WiFi range & after some googling I was getting pointed towards mesh Wifi rather than 'wifi extenders'.
Now if I've understood it correctly, these basically plug in to your router (BT Smart Hub in my case) & then you dot them around the house & job done. Yes/No?
Literally the only reason I'm looking in to this for is because we have a Tapo outdoor camera at the far end of the garden because we have hedgehog. The camera must be on the limit of the WiFi range because while I can access footage from the app, it's annoyingly laggy whereas the Tapo doorbell which is literally on the other side of the wall from the router is smooth & quick.
So this is the only reason I'm looking in to this.
Same thing for a relatives setup too really. I suspect with where they want cameras located that they're going to need their WiFi extending.
My house is 1930s & has cavity walls, their house is 1800s & has no cavity, just solid thick walls.
I've had a look & you can pay quite a range in pricing on these things. I don't want to be paying over the odds for something that's just total overkill but don't really know what I should be looking at either, which is where you come in.

I have used the Deco system, from TP-Link, in a few properties. One unit gets plugged into the router and then you pair other units.I put one in a early 20th century flat and I could connect to it half-way down the road in the car.Another three unit Deco is being used in an old property which had poor coverage and the owner has no issues at all. Happily sits in the garden connected to the Wifi which before was impossible. The units need mains so need to be relatively near a socket.Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid1
