Thomson and Morgan Refund

Hi, I placed an order with T&M on Thursday as tere site stated that orders are dispatched in 24 hours, however by Saturday the delivery company gave no notification that the plant I ordered was on the way so I phoned T&M and was told it would be Monday or Tuesday the next week, I advised the person I spoke to that was no good and he offered a refund, today Sunday I get email saying the order has been dispatched so I phoned again and explained that it is now far to late and I am awaiting a refund, the reply to this was just don't accept the package and send it back and a refund would be made, however as I was told that a refund would be made yesterday (Saturday) I said I wanted the refund now not when the item had been returned, the answer to this was he would make a refund today but would take 4 to 5 working days to be back into my A/C when I said that when I ordered they took the money straight away and I wanted the same but he said that is not the way it works, this in my opinion is not right why should it take 4 to 5 working days when they take straight away?

If they say refunds take 4-5 working days to process then despite your opinion that it is not right you'll have to accept it.

The only way a payment leaves you account instantly is by faster payment and you need sort code account number and a reference which in this case would not be available I think
Payment by credit card likely would appear but as you are not paying instantly for purchases 
Debit card Payment are usally pending transaction and if you ever make a deposit to a savings account you will be informed that you can't make a withdrawal until the 5th day

It takes time for the request to the finance department  to process and then transfer back to paying bank. and  back to you. 

I doubt the finance section work on Sundays so probably Monday to start the process.

In your opinion it's not right.  In my opinion it's acceptable.  Neither really matters, what matters is their obligations and your consumer rights, and I don't see a problem with what they're doing.

If orders are dispatched in 24hrs then that could be Friday sometime. They didn't say you would receive it in 24hrs. Deliveries are often Monday to Friday, not at the weekend

OP ordered Thursday, it wasn't despatched on Friday.

Perhaps the people you spoke to might be trying to manage your expectations in saying 4-5 days (i know that when ive returned stuff at a supermarket they too have said to me it can take 4-5 days for the money to appear but its been refunded quicker). 

Would asking your bank to explain the process and timeline help (it must be the case that the banks truly know the reason why)

Despatch and Delivery Times

Seeds and gardening equipment will normally be delivered within 7 working days.

'Despatch: Within 24 hours' applies to orders placed online from Sunday to Thursday. Orders placed online on Friday or Saturday will be despatched on Monday. Please note that for Bank Holiday weekends, orders placed Friday to Sunday will be despatched on Tuesday. Please allow 3 to 4 working days for your product to arrive before contacting us.

I would imagine that ordering late on Thursday (no time stated, but Order line opening hours: Mon-Sun 9am - 6pm) so could easily be any after 6pm, that they are counted as a Friday order.

I would say that CS staff do not have facility to refund, as someone will need to check that payment has actually been taken & has credited their account.

This could be a case that no money has actually debited OP's acc, & it is just auth showing against available funds.🤷‍♀️

OP would need to confirm this.

Just to say ordered Thursday 08 May 2025 13:33 and it was a plant not seeds or equipment.

They use EVRI to deliver - so there is every chance you will never see your order.
